people that anglend had all the time been a good friend of
ours, and no bad feeling had ever existed between England
and China. But we must bear in mind what China got from
England during the past 80 years. What she got was the
yoke of the unequal treaties. Under these unequal treaties
England has exercised every kind of oppression over us,
deprived us of our Customs autonomy and made us suffer all
sorts of loss. On the one and she is courting our
friendship by specious words contrary to her true intent-
ions, and on the other she is working in secret to resist
our revolutionary movements and to prejudice our
revolutionary development. She has even libelled us as
Reds and Bolshevists.

our capacity as Nationalists, we have to secure the
freedom and independence of China, the removal of all Imperialists oppressing over her, the cancellation of the unequal treaties and the restoration to her of her
international equality. It is for this that we promote
our revolution. But it is for this that the British
Imperialists libel us as Reds. If these are the only
objects of the Reds, it is of course all we Chinese want.
"In our capacity as Democrats, we shall remove all
reactionary influence of the Imperialists, old officials
local reacals and bad gentry, who oppress the people and
establish a Democratic Government which will promote all
the interests of the people. But the British Imperialists have again libelled us as Reds in this respect. If these things are the work of Reds, 90% of us Chinese will be
ready to support them.
"In our capacity as Social Reformers, we shall
secure for the peasants, workmen, merchants and students,
the opportunity of gaining their livelihood, that is to
say, we shall see that all peasants will have land for
cultivation
